Private keys authorize transactions. Losing control of a key can mean losing access to assets.
Spot trading concerns the asset itself. Derivatives create contractual exposure and may introduce leverage and liquidation risk.

Start with what the asset represents, how its network works and what risks come with holding it. Cryptocurrency is not a single uniform category: governance, issuance and technical assumptions differ between projects.
A private key authorizes transactions. A self-managed wallet places key-management responsibility on its owner; a custodial service introduces reliance on the provider. Backup, recovery and withdrawal processes should be understood before transferring assets.
Learn the relationship between bids, offers, spread and order-book depth. Compare order types and distinguish spot ownership from derivatives exposure. Prices can move sharply and an order may execute differently from an initial estimate.
Staking, lending and leveraged contracts introduce different obligations and failure modes. Read the relevant terms and evaluate access to assets, potential losses and counterparty exposure. A product label or advertised yield does not establish safety.
| Topic | What to understand |
|---|---|
| Blockchain | A shared record maintained through consensus |
| Private key | Secret authorization material for transactions |
| Market cap | Price multiplied by a defined supply figure |
| Volatility | The extent and pattern of price movement |
A network or service may charge for processing a transfer. Fee calculation differs across networks and providers.
Confirmed transfers are often difficult or impossible to reverse. The exact behavior depends on the network and service.
